Quid Novi Headmaster Note, 4/16/2025
Dear families,
It seems like it was only recently that we approached the altar here at school to receive ashes and inaugurate our Lenten season. And yet here we are, six weeks later, about to enter into the holiest of days in the liturgical year. It is a paradoxical sentiment that I know many of you share: that at once, we can long with great longing for the conclusion of all our efforts to pray more, fast more, and give more, and we can sense that there was more we could have done, perhaps should have done, and how we wish for more time to prepare!
And yet, providentially, we are where we are today. It is a comforting reminder that it is in today, this moment, that God encounters us. Regardless of our experience this Lent, we have today to respond to his call. As St. Paul says:
“Working together with him, then, we entreat you not to accept the grace of God in vain. For he says, ‘At the acceptable time I have listened to you, and helped you on the day of salvation.’ Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:1-2).
This passage flows from the powerful and mysterious statement “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
As we enter into the Triduum and Easter season, may we all be prepared to accept his salvation and righteousness. May your upcoming observances and celebrations be holy and blessed! And may the following break be restful.
Oremus pro invicem (let us pray for one another),
Mr. Crane

Many of our students, faculty, and parents left on Monday, April 14th for their pilgrimage to Rome in preparation for and celebration of Easter. Please continue to keep our pilgrims in your prayers for a safe and blessed journey, and if you have any special intentions, please send them to Dr. Wilderman.

A blessed Holy Week to you all! Upon return from Easter break, in order to continue our growth in Gregorian Chant repertoire and to continue singing different chant settings of the Mass ordinary, we will be doing a different Gregorian Chant setting of the Sanctus at daily Mass. We will go back to our regular Kyrie and keep the same Agnus Dei. A recording (with the chant notation in the video) is attached if you would like to listen to it before we return from break. Also, we will start singing the Regina Caeli for the recessional. A recording of that with the chant notation in the video is also attached.
