When: Friday, March 21, 2025 (5:30 VIP cocktail hour, 6:15 student call time, 7:00 all parent admission)
Is this a Fundraiser or a Friendraiser? It’s BOTH! As in past years, all parents will want to come to view their children’s talent. They can also use this opportunity to grow our community, widely inviting friends, future OLV parents, and extended family to come experience the beauty of Chesterton exemplified by our Fine Arts programming, while benefitting OLV’s future.
VIP Cocktail Hour (5:30 - 7:00 p.m.):
For Cocktail Hour ticket holders, the evening will begin with these benefits:
hors d’oeuvres and wine
mingle with friends, teachers, headmaster, and executive director
listen to talented background instrumentalists from our student body
exclusive, uncrowded access to the student art show
opportunity to select art pieces which, for a donation to OLV, will be carefully framed and delivered a few weeks after the evening
priority seating during the chorale and dance performance (7:00 - 8:30)

Art Sale - Consent For Fundraising:
One of our distinctives as a Chesterton Academy is our fine arts. Our art, drama, and dance programs make us unique and excellent. Many Chesterton Academies tout their fine arts focus during their annual gala. While OLV does not hold a formal gala each year, it seemed fitting this year to allow the opportunity for families to procure their student’s framed art — to beautify their own homes or perhaps gifts for grandparents and others — to raise funds for OLV’s future. That said, we understand that art can be very personal. If you do not want your student’s artwork to be digitized and framed for fundraising purposes, please let Mrs. Bowman know no later than Friday, March 14th.

For Feasts of St. Joseph and the Annunciation, we will be elevating the liturgy! The Feast of St. Joseph is Wednesday, March 19th, and the Feast of the Annunciation is Tuesday, March 25th. One of the ways we will be doing this is by using Latin for the entrance antiphon, the offertory antiphon, and the communion antiphon. English translations will be provided as a handout as you walk into Mass. In addition, the Sanctus and Agnus Dei will be sung with different Gregorian chants. This will be the Missa de Angelis, also known as Mass VIII. Handouts for these chants will also be available at the door. If you would like to listen to these beautiful chants ahead of time, please follow the links below.

Registration for Fall sports will open in April. We plan to have girl’s volleyball and coed cross country again. The reason for the early registration is to catch as many people as possible before summer break and to prepare as needed within the summer. Practices will start about a week before the school year officially begins. Early registration will help ensure athletes are ready and communication is sent out in time. Matches and meets often occur within a week of the school year starting.
Practice times and locations are TBD but be on the look out for registration to open. Contact Coach Jayce with any questions.

The Classical Learning Test is a college entrance exam accepted at hundreds of colleges across the United States as an alternative to the SAT® and ACT®. At OLV, we also use it as an assessment test to measure how our students are performing academically. Each year, the CLT recognizes top performers across the U.S. Distinguished Scholars are those who earn the top score at their school; Regional Scholars are those who score in the top 5% in their respective region; and National Award Recipients are the top 50 high school sophomores across the U.S. National Award Recipients are also awarded a $2,500 scholarship to use at any CLT Partner College to help cover the cost of tuition and room and board. Students are automatically considered for these awards simply by taking the exam.
OLV freshmen and sophomores will take the CLT 10 on April 15, and the juniors on April 10. The tests are given in paper format. Any student wishing to brush up on any skills to better prepare can see Dr. Wilderman or go to cltexam.com for practice exams.
