Formation Fridays

Formation Fridays are a highlight of the OLV experience. Most Friday afternoons, students at OLV participate in events designed to help them grow as authentic human persons outside the traditional classroom setting. The Formation Friday curriculum is broad and varied and includes events such as fine arts performances, academic and athletic competitions, guest lectures, service projects, and pilgrimages. The curriculum focuses on four main categories of events: leisure/athletics, service, character formation, and spiritual.

In the past few years, students at OLV have:

  • Landscaped and cleaned graves for veterans at a local cemetery

  • Attended a performance of “A Christmas Carol” at the Denver Center for Performing Arts

  • Listened to a local priest speak about the works of mercy and his trip to India volunteering with the Missionaries of Charity

  • Enjoyed a British-style festival of croquet, tea and crumpets

  • Volunteered at Marisol Health, The Samaritan House, Hope’s Provision Food Bank, along with other nonprofit organizations

  • Learned about the uniqueness and significance of the U.S. Constitution from the organization Constituting America

  • Attended a performance of the “Cinderella” opera by Rossini

  • Organized, collected donations and decorated the school for an Infant Jesus Shop during Advent, where children within the OLV community could choose Christmas gifts for their siblings and enjoy Christmas festivities
