Sarah Akers
Sarah Akers is the Vice President of Human Resources for FOCUS. She joined FOCUS in 2001, serving previously in roles as a Campus Missionary, Team Director, and Regional Director.
She graduated with a B.A. in Theology from Christendom College and received her master’s in psychology from Divine Mercy University.
Sarah lives in Denver, Colorado, and is a parishioner at St. Vincent De Paul Parish.
Amy Boll | Parent
Amy is a midwestern native and received a BA in history from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters in Theology from Franciscan University. She and her husband Bryan have four children and have lived in the Denver area for eight years, after spending eight years in the desert of Arizona. Amy loves to hike and ski, but spends most of her time at the ballpark between baseball and softball games. She has also homeschooled for the last five years. One of her greatest loves is serving the Church as a catechist for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Amy has always been passionate about classical education and is honored to serve the OLV community as a board member.
Therese Chavez | Parent
Therese moved from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Denver in 1999, where she met her husband, Dr. Mario Chavez. A mother of four, Therese has found the Catholic community of Denver to be vital in raising their children in the faith. She and her husband sought out OLV to continue the mission of providing a superb Catholic formation for their children. They are long-time parishioners of Our Lady of Lourdes and fervent believers in the classical model of education.
After 15 years in the architecture and design field, Therese founded Modern Barn Designs, LLC, an interior design firm focusing on small church beautification projects and the creation and integration of sacred art. She assists in the management of Vita Nova Spinal Care, PC., and is an active volunteer for Hope’s Provision Food Bank.
Finally, Therese will tell you that one of the highlights of her time with OLV has been as assistant coach of the girl’s basketball team. This experience demonstrated to her the caliber of students that attend OLV, as well as the Christ-centered focus of all aspects of the school.
Natalie Chiappone | Secretary, Executive Committee | Parent
Denver native and Franciscan University graduate Natalie Chiappone has nurtured her family for 22 years as a dedicated stay-at-home mom. Her passion for Catholic education led her and her husband Chris to champion Our Lady of Victory since its founding. Witnessing their daughters thrive at OLV fuels her dedication to serving the school.
Shawn Grady | Parent
Shawn is a Senior Vice President of Supply and Logistics for Savage Industries. He graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a major in Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Refining and a minor in Mineral Economics.
Shawn’s wife Bridgette passed away 4 years ago from cancer when their oldest son was a freshman at OLV. Their oldest son just graduated from OLV in May of 2024 and is now a freshman at Texas A&M University. Their second son currently attends OLV and their youngest son is thrilled to join his siblings at OLV next year. The Grady family are parishioners at St. Mary Catholic Church in Littleton.
Dr. Scott Hefelfinger | Parent
Scott Hefelfinger serves on the faculty of the Augustine Institute Graduate School of Theology. A California native, Scott studied music composition at U.C. Berkeley. A powerful rediscovery of the Catholic faith led him to serve for a year as a missionary with NET Ministries; this service was followed by further studies at the International Theological Institute in Austria and the University of Notre Dame, where he completed a PhD in Moral Theology. Scott currently teaches in the areas of dogmatic and moral theology, taking inspiration from Christ’s promise of “life in abundance” (Jn 10:10). In addition to his research and teaching, he speaks regularly on morality, prayer, and family life at parishes and conferences. As a down-to-earth counterbalance, he enjoys roasting coffee at home and recently partnered with his oldest son to start a micro-coffee roasting business. Scott and his wife, Simone, live with their four children in Centennial, CO, and are parishioners at St. Mary Catholic Church.
Tyler Kolden | Parent
Tyler Kolden is a committed family man with a passion for education. Tyler and his wife Lynette are blessed with eight children ranging from a newborn to a current freshman at Our Lady of Victory. For the past 13 years, Tyler and his family have been active members of St. Mary’s Parish in Littleton. Originally from Minnesota, Tyler graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in electrical engineering. After college, he joined FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students. He served two years as a campus missionary at the US Naval Academy before transitioning to the IT team, where he has worked for the past 16 years, and currently serves as the Vice President of IT.
Kevin McAdam | Chairman, Executive Committee | Parent
A Colorado native, Kevin lives in Littleton with his wife and five children, the oldest of whom is a junior at OLV. The McAdam family attends St. Mary, the parish in which Kevin received his Sacraments of Initiation (a long time ago!) Kevin graduated from Boston College with a BA in International Studies and obtained his JD from the University of Colorado Law School. After clerking for a federal judge in Denver, Kevin joined Colorado’s largest law firm, Holland & Hart, where he is a Partner in the business litigation group focusing on complex civil cases.
Matt Miller | Parent
Matt Miller was born and raised in San Diego, California before attending Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio. It was there he received degrees in both Theology and Catechetics and also met his wife, Dianna. Now living in Highlands Ranch, they have four children, including two OLV students. Matt has been in software sales for over a decade, specifically in the field of cybersecurity; identity management, application vulnerability remediation, data security and ransomware recovery. He has also served as a youth minister for the Archdiocese of Denver and has been a professional worship leader and musician for over 20 years. Matt and his family have now lived in Colorado for 15 years and have been active participants in the Catholic community in Denver.
Brian Rorick
Brian Rorick was born and raised in Fort Wayne, IN, and graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN with a business degree in Accounting and Computer Information Systems. Brian worked at Ernst & Young in Indianapolis before meeting his wife, Beth, and moving to Denver to start a new career at Merrill Lynch. Brian spent several years at Merrill Lynch and UBS before co-founding Aveo Capital Partners in 2011. Brian and his wife Beth have two children, one in high school and one in college, and are passionate about classical education. They have been active members in the Catholic community in Denver and are parishioners at St. Thomas More. Brian previously served on the Investment Committee for the Archdiocese of Denver and on the Finance Council at St. Thomas More.
Mike Schubert | Parent
A parent of two OLV students, Mike lives in Centennial along with his wife and three children. Mike is a recent convert to the Catholic faith after receiving his first communion and confirmation in June of 2019. He and his family are parishioners at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
The Schubert family immigrated to the United States in 2019 from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Mike graduated with a Petroleum Engineering degree from the University of Alberta and works as a Senior Manager of Production & Operations for Denver-based energy company Ovintiv.
Toni Vaeth
Toni Vaeth has been serving as an Associate Superintendent in the Archdiocese of Denver for the past 7 years. Previously, she served as principal at St. Therese Catholic School in Aurora, Colorado and a teacher and leader in Catholic schools for twenty years. Toni is also a mentor/coach/presenter with the Latino Enrollment Institute (LEI) through the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) helping schools institute changes that welcome and support Latino families. She is also working with ACE and the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA) by serving as a mentor for the Latino Educator and Administrator Development designed to invite, advance, and retain Latino educators in Catholic schools.
Prior to her education experience, Toni worked as a CPA for Deloitte Touche Ross, International Auditor for Johns Manville and a Financial Systems Manager for Kroger. She is currently pursing her doctorate in Catholic Education from Saint Louis University and holds an M.A. in Education from the University of Colorado, M.B.A. from the University of Denver, and a B.S in Accounting from Colorado State University.
Toni has been married for 30 years to her husband, Joe, and has two children, Katie and Joe, who were educated in our Catholic schools. Katie is pursuing her PhD at CU Anschutz and Joe is working with KPMG here in Colorado. The family has been part of the Blessed Sacrament parish for 30 years. The whole family are Colorado natives and live in the Park Hill neighborhood in the heart of Denver.
